God is NOT Dead

“My God’s not dead, He’s surely alive.” Lyrics from God’s Not Dead by Newsboys. And they are some of the most true words I have ever heard. God is NOT dead. He is alive, and watching over us everyday.

Several years ago, when I was living at a friend’s house (mentioned in Sugared Moments post, Moving Part 3 and eventually Part 4), we watched the first God’s Not Dead. It was a very moving and powerful movie about a student who is forced to defend his faith in his classroom, as well as many other things. And then last night we watched the sequel. Many of the characters were either mentioned, or came back for this movie, but it had a very different story line. This time, it was from the perspective of a Christian teacher who answered a question and specifically mentions Jesus. This turns into an enormous law suit.

But in the end, it was proven that God DOES exist. And He is NOT dead.

My God is a personal and loving God. My God is a Miracle Worker. He keeps His promises. He will NEVER leave me or forsake me. He lives inside me. He is a Roaring Lion. That is exactly who God is, and He will never change.

More often than not we forget that He is there for us. We learn to rely on other people for the answers instead of God. And yes, God created us to be a community, but He also created us to look to Him in the trials, not other humans.

We can’t forget who our God is and what He has done for us. He died and endured torture for us. Doesn’t that show exactly how much He loves us? (Although that really isn’t the end of the story.)
