Being Content

Guys I’m actually posting on Monday this week! Isn’t that crazy?!

I saw a quote this afternoon that said “Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now” (Lucy Sutcliffe). Now I know I’m probably not the only person who is just waiting for Friday to come so that it’s the weekend, or waiting for the summer to come so that they can swim and go places with their friends. The amount of times I have texted my friend and just said “I can’t wait for Friday”, is probably more than I would like to admit. And I know that the past few days, I’ve been wishing for summer a lot. Summer means a lot of things for me, and I really can’t wait for it.

But I’m learning that in my longing for other things, I’m not being content with where I am. I’m not being happy with the place that I am at right now. Yes, I want summer, and all the good things that will come with it. But I have good things going on right now too. Our homeschool group’s play rehearsals start soon; my brother moved out so we were able to do some moving around, and now I only share a room with one sister instead of two; I’m getting more and more into writing my newest book. I might be going through a lot, and I might be having hard times sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that nothing about my life right now is good. I may be single right now. I may not have anyone romantic in my life right now. But that’s okay. God is keeping me where I am for a reason, and it’s about trusting His timing. Just because I don’t have anyone romantic doesn’t mean that I don’t have great relationships. I am learning that I need to be happy with where God has put me right now, and not constantly be wishing for something else further down the line. It’ll come eventually, but only when God gives it to me. Until then, I just have to sit tight, and enjoy the moment that I am living in.
