Home for Christmas

We all know the classic song “I’ll be Home for Christmas”- and if you don’t know it well… I think you get the gist of it.

Being home for Christmas is one of the most amazing feelings ever. Now some of you might disagree with me- you might have a rough family life and being “home” with them is awful, or you just enjoy being independent- but hear me out first.

Home does not have to be a place. Home is not where you grew up- it can be, but it doesn’t have to be. Home can be wherever you feel safe and happy. As the saying goes, “home is where your heart is”. It is wherever- or whoever- you can see and this sense of happiness fill you. Whether that be your college dorm, your best friend’s house, or your own house. It could be wherever your family spends Christmas- it doesn’t matter where, just as long as you are together- or wherever you are with your best friends. It could be so many places or people. But being with them makes Christmas better for you. You might’ve made it through alone, but being with them ensures it.

For me, home is wherever I’m with my parents and my siblings. Whether that is my own house, my grandparents’, my cousins’, anywhere. As long as I’m with them, I’m home and I’m happy.

But I know that not everyone will be like that this Christmas season. So here is my encouragement to you: whether you have a place that you feel at home at or not, you always have a home and a place with the Father. You always have someone who will be looking after you and who will welcome you with open arms. And this goes for everyone everywhere- not just the people who are lonely this season.

I hope everyone is having an amazing Christmas season! There are only 8 days left! How crazy is that?!?!?!? I’m praying for you all!
