Friends

The past month in my youth group, we’ve been learning about friendships. I wanted to share some of my notes with you all this week, because they were some really good messages and I really learned a lot from them and I hope you all will too!
Next week, two new chapters of The Warrior’s Daughter will be out, and the week after that, another lesson about Jonathan! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week, and Happy February!!

1/9/21- why are friendships so important?
Gen Z is the loneliest generation. Being lonely has the same effect on your body as smoking fifteen cigarettes a day 🙁
More dangerous than obesity.

  1. Friends make the work easier and the outcome even better. “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil”.
We need to be willing to receive help.
  2. Friends help in times of difficulty.
“For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up”.
This whole book was to tel people not to rely on themselves and their own wisdom, but God’s.
    James 1:2.
  3. Friends comfort in times of need.
“Again, I’d two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone?”
Find friends who will comfort you in times of need.
  4. Friends protect in times of danger.
“And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him- a threefold cord is not quickly broken”.
Find a friend who will back you up when you are in trouble. Find a group of people to do life with who will help you and protect you. Three strings will last longer than one string. Don’t do life alone. Two is better than one.
A lone wolf eats significantly less than a pack of wolves. They die a lot sooner than a wolf in a pack. They live a lot more unhappily than a wolf pack. Join a pack.
    We were made for friendships.

1/30/21- How to be a great friend?
GREAT Friends Go To Great Lengths
The friends in this story were amazing friends. They brought their friend to someone for healing- that wasn’t easy. They were willing to go to great lengths to help him. They didn’t care abt embarrassment. They were willing to put their reputation and image on the line for their friend.
People were probably telling them it was a bad idea and not to do it but they did it anyway.
They must have believed that Jesus could heal their friend. They had such faith in Jesus. Do we all believe that he could do the same thing for us and our friends?
GREAT friends have great faith. v.5
Jesus saw all of the friends faith too. Not just the man’s.
we need to have great faith.
Even though Jesus only forgave the paralytics sins, the friends still loved him and still were great friends.
Jesus showed that what matters most is not your physical healing, but your spiritual healing. He was preaching, not healing, even though he does eventually heal the man.
How can we take our friends to Jesus?
Living out Jesus, texting and DMing Bible verses, telling them you are praying, inviting them to youth group/church,
A FRIEND is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.

Bottom Line: GREAT Friends Bring Friends to Jesus.
